Good on you Toyota, kind of surprised it’s still an option. I’m assuming it was next to impossible to even find one with a stick on a lot much less with the options you wanted so building was the only real solution.

Yeah, I tried to find one on a lot in the area without much luck (one at a partner dealer to the place I was talking to did sell out from under me). I was in no big rush and since I was buying new, didn’t want to compromise on color and didn’t want to pay for options I didn’t need or want.

I almost got my ‘15 with a manual. I didn’t love the feel, and the  handbrake placement was weird. I need to make sure I find a manual transmission something for my son to drive, but I’ve got 7 years before I need to worry about that.

Thanks! I’d driven a Frontier Pro-4X manual prior to driving and deciding on the Tacoma, and the Toyota’s transmission is so, so much better than the one in the Nissan. Also, I drove a new Tacoma with the automatic and really didn’t like it (hunts gears like crazy - pretty much all the negative reviews for the 3rd gen are related to this). I really enjoy driving a manual + I want one around for my kids to learn on + I really didn’t like the auto = easy decision!

For the TRD Off Road, I don’t think there’s anything you can spec on the auto that you can’t on the manual (there are some things that do come standard on the auto that you don’t get on the manual — keyless start, Crawl Control — and for some reason the premium package omits the upgraded audio, which is pretty stupid). But I disliked the automatic enough on this truck that I was willing to give up some other tech. The manual comes with A-TRAC instead.

when i bought my 2010 sx4, i couldn’t get heated seats, bigger stereo nor the auto climate control with a manual. the only options I added to mine was the factory fog lights and ipod input...(was the only available options.....)

If I were to replace my current Tacoma, I’d get a new Tacoma with a manual. I’d go find one to drive, but then I’m sure I’d want to trade in!

I love how the TRD’s look. I'm scared to drive one because then I might end up ordering one myself lol. I don't really have a need for a truck at all, and I'm not really a truck guy, but these tacomas just do it for me.

Ooohhhhhh I want that. That is one of a few vehicles I’d buy new, along with an Accord 6mt.

There’s one almost the same - also brand new - at my work, it just started appearing in the parking lot(s). Not sure if it’s a manual. I love it though.

Can’t wait! My youngest is 5, and we need to start doing a whole lot more camping than we’ve done in recent years. We did a 5000+ mile western roadtrip in my wife’s MDX last month, and there were so many places in Utah where I wish we would’ve had more time to explore (and a high-clearance 4x4).

Yeah, I didn’t think I’d be buying new, but it really doesn’t make any sense to buy a Tacoma a few years used - the damn things just don’t depreciate!

I need to get a test drive in the new Accord manual. Hopefully they sell enough of them that they’ll be a few available secondhand in the future.
